Ages 18 months - 6 years
September - December, Tuesdays and the first and third Friday of each month

Learn with us through age-appropriate games, crafts, stories, activities, and live animal presentations, toddlers, preschoolers, and their grown up can learn and play together! Check our calendar of events for upcoming programs. New themes each week, held in the Education Building. Pre-registration strongly suggested as space is limited. Walk-ins welcome if space is available. Click here to register.

Zoo Members: $6 per child/1 adult free | Non-Members: $12 includes 1 adult/1 child
Fee includes zoo admission. Siblings under 18 months are free.
Additional children or adult participants are $7/person.

Mini Mountains
3 years old - Strong walkers
Wednesdays, September 10 - November 5, 9:30 - 10:15am
Classes held in the Education Building

Spend the morning with your Mini Mountain in this fun animal yoga class. Buzz like bees, roar like a lion and hiss in cobra pose. Sing songs and play games while helping them with coordination and body awareness. This class explores the wonderful world of animals and strengthen kids’ growing muscles. One adult per child is required on the mat. A minimum of four participants is required to hold these programs. Fee includes zoo admission, but not all classes may include a zoo visit.

OM'ing Otters
Ages 4-7 years old
Weekly Saturdays or Sundays, September 13 - November 16, 9:15-10:15am
Classes held in the Education Building (no classes Nov. 1 or Nov. 2)

Come get bendy, during our OM'ing Otters animal yoga class. Learn to challenge your body during this energy releasing yoga class. Go upside down, play games, dance and take yoga adventures to African savannas, Amazon rainforest and Bug Land. Learn what the two toed sloth’s favorite snack is or how a bobcat hunts all while doing the animals' yoga poses. This class concentrates on more advanced yoga poses animal education. One parent or caregiver welcome per child but are not required. A minimum of four participants is required to hold these programs. Fee includes zoo admission, but not all classes may include a zoo visit.

Science & Career Workshops
Ages 8 and up
Adults are not required to attend this program, but paid adults are welcome to join us. NOTE: Science & Career Workshops require Min 10/Max 30 program participants.

Brandywine Zoo offers a variety of career-focused workshops for pre-teens and teens interested in working with animals. Join us at an upcoming workshop focusing on one of the following topics:

Studying Animals/Wildlife Research
Saturday, October 11, 10:30-12pm
What's it take to study animals in the wild? How do we know what they do? Find out how researchers use camera traps, hair snares, radio tracking devices, photographs and even drones to monitor wildlife.

Animal Husbandry
Saturday, November 22, 1:30pm - 3pm
How do we care for our animals here at the zoo? We'll discuss everything from nutrition to vet care in this overview of exotic animal husbandry.

Enrichment
Saturday, January 17, 2015, 10:15am - 11:45am
What is 'enrichment' and why is it so important to animals at the zoo? Discover what our keepers do to enrich the lives of our animals to keep them healthy and happy.

Exhibit Design
Saturday, February 21, 2015, 1:30pm - 3pm
What does an animals' natural history have to do with how we design exhibits? Everything! During this workshop, we'll look at what it takes to design great exhibits for animals in zoos.

Animal Behavior Studies
Saturday, March 21, 2015, 10:15am - 11:45am
Become an animal behaviorist for the day and put your observation skills to the test. Learn how zoologists study animals and complete a study of your own.

Animal Health and Veterinary Care
Saturday, April 18,2015, 1:30pm - 3pm
It takes a lot to take care of exotic animals. Their health at the zoo is a primary issue as animals age, have young, or develop special conditions. Find out what it means to practice veterinary care in an exotic setting?

Zoo Members: $8/student | Non-Members: $10/student
Register for 4 or more sessions and save $5 off your total fee.

Bring your homeschool group to the Brandywine Zoo for one of our many family programs and workshops listed above. We additionally have special events for school groups throughout the school year, as well as Discovery Tours (groups of 15 or more) and Traveling Zoos available (we unfortunately do not visit private residences with our outreach programs).

Special Events for School Groups

Brandywine Zoo hosts several special events that are geared toward school groups and families of all ages. Fee: Free with paid admission! School Groups MUST register with the Education Department for access to all event activities.
