The Education Department offers special programs for specific age groups
except during the summer months. Read about some of the wonderful programs
below.

Zoo Toddler Programs
For ages 18 months - 3 years

The Brandywine Zoo offers programs specially designed for children 18 months to 3 years old. These fun-filled frolics into the animal world may include a story, a live animal visit, and a craft. All children must be accompanied by an adult. One adult is admitted free for each participating child. Programs are held in the Education Building. Space is limited, so pre-registration is strongly suggested.
Fee: $8 per child; $6 per child for Delaware Zoological Society.
Pint Sized Planeteers
Focus: Shapes. Don't be "obtuse," come to this "acute" program all about animal shapes...leave the zoo well "rounded!" Fee: $8.00 per child/$6.00 per child for Delaware Zoological Society Members. One adult is free for each paid participant. Registration strongly suggested, walk-ins welcome if space is available.

ZooKids
For ages 4-6

Calling all kids ages 4-6! Bring your adult to the Zoo for an afternoon of exploration into the animal world. These special programs may include a story, live animal presentation, activities, and a craft. All children must be accompanied by an adult and be within the correct age bracket on the day of the program. One adult is admitted free for each participating child. Space is limited to 15 children, so pre-registration is strongly suggested. Programs begin in the Education Building. Walk-ins are welcome, if space is available.

Junior Zoo Naturalists
For ages 7-13

Much Ado About Zoo Doo! I do, you do, the animals at the zoo do, because we all poo. Come spend the day at the zoo learning about poo, because when it comes to scat, the zoo is where it's at! We'll enjoy a pizza lunch, games, crafts, and much more! Pre-registration required.
Fee: $20 per child; $15 per child for Delaware Zoological Society Members.

Scout Day
An Event for Boys and Girls!
Boys and Girls, Scouts one and all... Enjoy a morning at the Zoo designed just for scouts and their families. Registered participants for this program get to enjoy special early admission to the zoo before it opens to the public!!! Enjoy a morning of games, crafts, and activities all geared toward scout requirements. Brandywine Zoo patches will be available for purchase in the gift shop. This is an outdoor event, so dress for the weather. Please call the zoo at (302) 571-7850, ext. 209 for registration information for this particular program. (Nov. 15 Rain date)
Fee: $7.00 per person. Program fee applies for Zoo Members as well. Space is limited, please register early!

Zoo Fiesta

For all ages
The Brandywine Zoo and the Latin American Community Center are working together to provide a WILD Fiesta! Learn about endangered species from Latin Countries and more importantly learn how YOU can make a difference! This bilingual event will include: animal maraca craft, face painting, music, crafts, and more...all in Spanish and English! What's a fiesta without a piñata? Observe several Zoo animals, including our tiger, play with their own special piñatas! Free with paid admission to the Zoo.
¡El Zoológico Brandywine y el Centro Comunitario Latinoamericano le invitan a nuestra Fiesta Silvestre! Aprenda acerca de animales bajo riesgo de extinción que derivan de países Latinos pero mas importante aprenda como hacer una diferencia. ¡Este evento bilingüe incluirá: un taller de maracas silvestres, artes y artesanías, música, concurso de dibujos y mucho más! Todo será en español e Ingles. ¿Y que es una fiesta sin una piñata? ¡Venga y observe a nuestros animales, incluyendo nuestro tigre, jugar con sus propias piñatas especiales! Celebrate Halloween at the Zoo! This is a merry-not-scary event! Children and their grown-ups will enjoy games, face painting, live entertainment, wild treats, Halloween stories, and critters that creep. Children are encouraged to wear Halloween costumes. Walk-ins welcome.
Deck the Zoo!
Sunday, December 14: 1:00pm - 3:00pm
For all ages
Bring the whole gang to the zoo for our annual holiday celebration. Help us decorate our zoo wildlife tree with edible treats that will give a winter lift to our wild friends. Share a warm winter snack and take this opportunity to wish your animal friends "Happy Holidays!" This is an outdoor event, so dress for the weather. This program is great for families and groups.
Noon Year's Eve Celebration at Brandywine Zoo!
Wednesday, December 31: 10:30am - 12:30pm For all ages Celebrate the New Year Zoo-style by ringing in the New Year at Noon! We'll have games, crafts, and a celebratory atmosphere...and of course a sparkling apple cider toast as the clock strikes 12 (Noon that is!)
