Welcome to the

Brandywine Zoo!

The Brandywine Zoo is less than five acres and located in Wilmington, Delaware, along the Brandywine River in beautiful Brandywine Park. The Zoo is open 10am to 4pm (last admission at 3:30pm). The Brandywine Zoo is managed by the Delaware Division of Parks and Recreation with the support of the Delaware Zoological Society. The Brandywine Zoo is a member of the Association of Zoos & Aquariums and is one of over 240 accredited zoos and aquariums in North America, a distinction that marks its commitment to providing excellent care for animals, a great experience for the visitor, and a better future for all living things.

Scout Night

Saturday, April 5, 4:30-7pm

Enjoy an evening at the zoo for this specially designed event for scouts and their families! There will be activities and learning stations geared toward scout requirements. This program takes place in the zoo so dress for the weather.

Members Only Event

Thursday, April 10, 5-7pm

Join us for our exclusive Members Only Event featuring tacos from The Stand and ice cream from Hy-point Farms, plus Keeper Talks, and more.

Enjoy games and activities with our special guests from Hagley Museum and Delaware Blue Coats, plus educational stations with our zoo docents.

This special evening will also feature a meet-and-greet with Wicked Characters and a musical performance featuring Glinda and Elphaba, along with interactive play and activities from All That Shimmers Parties.

Sensory Hour

Saturday, April 12, 9-10am

Visit the zoo for a quiet hour in the morning to enjoy self-guided sensory-friendly stations in a less crowded atmosphere. This program is ideal for guests who may experience sensory sensitivities. Advance registration is recommended. Members can attend for free by emailing [email protected]

Stuffed Animal Vet Clinic

Saturday, April 12, 10am-12pm

Is your stuffed animal under the weather? Bring your favorite from home, or adopt one from the gift shop, to get a checkup with our zoo staff. Your stuffie will be examined, bandaged, or given ‘medicine’ to make sure they have a clean bill of health!

Earth Day: Party for the Planet

Saturday, April 19, 10am-3pm

Celebrate Earth Day the Brandywine Zoo way by joining us for our annual Party for the Planet event! Hosted alongside the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) and other AZA-accredited institutions, Party for the Planet is one of the largest combined Earth Day celebrations in North America. Partake in fun Earth Day themed activities, keeper talks, and more!

Guest Bartending Event at BBC Tavern and Grill

Thursday, May 1, 6-9pm

We invite you to join us and our guest bartenders for an evening of drinks and fun in supporting the Brandywine Zoo! This guest bartending event will be held at BBC Tavern and Grill located at 4019 Kennett Pike, Greenville, DE 19807.

The Brandywine Zoo is seeking dynamic and engaging teens who are interested in education and conservation. This program is a volunteer position that alternates between three positions throughout the zoo: educating guests, helping in the barnyard, and being an assistant camp counselor.
