Welcome to the

Brandywine Zoo!

The Brandywine Zoo is less than five acres and located in Wilmington, Delaware, along the Brandywine River in beautiful Brandywine Park. The Zoo is open 10am to 4pm (last admission at 3:30pm). The Brandywine Zoo is managed by the Delaware Division of Parks and Recreation with the support of the Delaware Zoological Society. The Brandywine Zoo is a member of the Association of Zoos & Aquariums and is one of over 240 accredited zoos and aquariums in North America, a distinction that marks its commitment to providing excellent care for animals, a great experience for the visitor, and a better future for all living things.

Creepy & Crawly Trivia Night (21+)​

The spooky season doesn’t have to be over yet! Join us for a fun 21 and up trivia night at the zoo. Test your knowledge about the animal world’s most notorious creepy crawlies. Plus, meet some of Brandywine Zoo’s Ambassador Animals up close. Drinks and snacks will be provided. The winning team will bring home a special prize and trophy!

Santa at the Zoo​

Saturday, December 6 & Sunday, December 7, 10am-12:30pm

Take a photo with Santa at this winter wonderland event! Meet Santa, share your wishes, and get photos (you take with your camera) at this Winter Wonderland tradition at the Brandywine Zoo. Enjoy holiday activities and fun educational tables and vendors.

Special Guests – Wilbur Elementary Choir will perform at our Wildlife Amphitheater on Saturday, 12/6, 11:15am-12:00pm.

Zoo Year's Eve​​

Wednesday, December 31, 10am-2pm

Celebrate New Year’s Eve early in the day with a group countdown and sparkling apple cider! Due to the popularity of this event, there will be two ball drops! One ball drop at 11am and another at 1pm. 

All those planning to attend, members and non-members, must register online. Program takes place outside, so dress for the weather! Some animals may not be out due to the cold weather. 

First Day Hikes

Ring in the New Year by joining the national First Day Hike movement with a guided ‘hike’ through the zoo! Join one of our educators for a free half-hour tour through the zoo to learn all about the animals, how we care for them, and what you can do to make conservation a New Year’s Resolution you can keep.

Rest & Revelry Trivia Night (21+)​

Friday, January 9 & Saturday, January 10, 5:30-7:30pm

Start the new year with a creature challenge! Join us for a 21 and up trivia night at the zoo. Test your knowledge about the animal world’s restful winters and rowdy play times. Plus, meet some of Brandywine Zoo’s ambassador animals up close.

Drinks and snacks will be provided. The winning team will bring home a special prize and trophy!

Birds & Bees Trivia Night (21+)

Friday, February 20 & Saturday, February 21, 5:30-7:30pm

Celebrate Valentine’s Day in the wildest way by joining us for a fun, adults-only trivia night at the zoo! Singles and sweethearts 21 and up are invited to test your knowledge about mating, dating, and reproduction in the animal world. Plus, meet some of Brandywine Zoo’s ambassador animals up close.

Drinks and snacks will be provided. The team with the most knowledge about ‘the birds and the bees’ will bring home a special trophy!
