Plastic Free July

Plastic Free July Kick Off at Brandywine Zoo!

July 1 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

From production to disposal, plastics can wreak havoc on the environment. A lot of it we don’t really need, so join us to discover alternatives and learn about a cool eco-challenge you can take to help you make changes and increase awareness. Remember, the plastic management hierarchy is first to Reduce, then Reuse, then Recycle. The goal is trying NOT to have it in the first place. However, it can sneak into our lives despite our best efforts, so we need to make sure it’s dealt with accordingly. For that, Trash Can Dan from the Delaware Solid Waste Authority will be happy to teach you what is recyclable, or not, in Delaware.

We’ll also be collecting plastic bags and bubble wrap for donation to EcoPlastic Products. This can include liner bags for cereal and crackers!

Head over to our wildlife amphitheater at 10:30am for a themed Storytime!
